Besides the not know what were doing.

One instance they were crossing soybeans with some member of the nut family. This would have produced soy that would trigger anaphylactic shock. This may not sound bad but soy is in a lot of foods and it would be impossible for some people to know/avoid these foods.

Sure. If you modify food to contain genes which produce harmful gene products. Of course, that would be a really stupid thing to do. As a result, one should hope (and help ensure) that genetic modification of food is monitored to ensure that corporations, which have profit in mind rather than public welfare, do not, in fact, do anything stupid.

Of course, they've (corporations have) already produced genetically modified seeds which produce plants which are unable to reproduce, ensuring that farmers have to buy new seeds every season. I consider this unethical and harmful in the extreme, and I think that the public should have legal recourse against such corporations. But this is about the only harmful result of genetically modified foods that I think is likely to occur, at least in the near future.

There are obvious benefits but untested problems to do with the environment and the health of people. Obvious concerns are human allergies and the environmental concerns involve the extinction of other completing plant species and problems for insects (which make up most of our biodiversity and are severely affected by this trend)

Website attached. I am against them for ethical reasons as well since food may no longer be freely cultivated if seeds are tied up with intellectual property protections and the plants don't recreate themselves without lab assistance...which is the point of these foods in some cases.

Don't sweat it. They are highly regulated. We're not going to die or get sick. But if you're not sure, then don't eat it.

They could be harmful if they were altered without regulations. However, transgenic foods are subject to strong regulations.
